Our History
Riccarton Community Church is an independent, every-generation church.
A group of local people had a vision for starting a church in Riccarton, beginning in 1948 with a Sunday School in the Riccarton Town Hall. For over seventy-five years, Riccarton Community Church has maintained that focus on sharing the hope that Jesus brings in this community and further afield.
Our Vision
To see our city become a place of Christ’s transforming hope for the world.
To help see our vision come about, we focus on four building blocks:
-
Our city knowing God
We believe God has called us to engage, influence and partner across our city to share the hope that Jesus Christ brings.
-
The marginalised flourishing
We believe we are called to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the poor and disadvantaged so that they can be difference-makers too.
-
People finding freedom & purpose
Following Jesus is the beginning of a journey that leads us out of brokenness and into new possibilities.
-
Our world transformed
We aim to spread the good news of hope through Jesus by sending people to, and supporting local people in reaching, many people-groups around the world.
We seek to be a genuine, relevant Christian community where every person can connect with God, can connect with other followers of Jesus, and connect with people who are searching for freedom and purpose.
